TCC and how it started...

After a couple of exciting weeks since launching TCC, I thought it would be worth sharing a some of the story that has lead to TCC Cricket Bats.

I'm Warren and from a youngster cricket has been a massive part of my life. It became a way of life for my family after first joining Lakenheath Cricket Club and then later Mildenhall Cricket Club. Every weekend was cricket cricket cricket!! My poor parents! Driving here, there and everywhere to games!

As I moved away to Loughborough University and then after around the country, cricket was the constant. It was the best way to meet new friends and settle in to the area, be it Fleet CC, Beddington CC, The Mote CC and Linton Park CC who have welcomed me and given me chances through out.

Each club and playing experience has given me more to learn from and I have great and fond memories from each that I regale to my children now.

On that note, I'd like to take moment to say thank you to those who have taught me a thing or two, but especially to the friends I have made through my cricketing journey. I wouldn't be writing this blog page if it wasn't for you all.

I remember always getting excited about the new season and the arrival of the mail order catalogues such as Morrant Cricket, 3D cricket. Yes! There was life before the internet and it wasn't all instantaneous viewing and shopping experiences.

But that added to the excitement; rushing home to check the post, ripping open the post and then reading and wanting a total refresh each season! After all that new bat was going to make me great! (Wasn't it!?!?!)

My parents who loved cricket, would still watch me with some trepidation as I would read the catalogues and talk about all the new ranges, and what looked great and so on. Now I realise they were really thinking; What bat does he want now?! What gloves and pads does he want now?! How much is this costing us?!!

Gradually I calmed and became more realistic, mainly because I had to earn and pay for the shiny new kit myself!

To a degree, I think we all go through phases like that and so we should, its the game we love, we enjoy playing and why shouldn't we want the best and the newest kit?!

This may sound familiar to many of us, I managed to do quite a bit of thinking in the lockdown periods. Thank you Covid. I started to realise I miss the excitement and buzz of a new season, playing and importantly treating myself to some new kit.

Through asking myself and those who'd listen, I tried to understand how can I get that excitement back? and how can I help club cricketers feel the same?

The light bulb moment (while playing cricket in the garden with my daughter), was; Cricket Bats! Every player needs and uses a bat. Every player has their own preference but not every player has a budget or access to bat makers to get exactly what they want.

Through my working career (and despite my best intentions and efforts) I've learned the hard way; 'you can't please everyone'

BUT

You can provide opportunities and most importantly you can provide an experience that people relate to, embrace and ultimately buy into. It is that experience which takes them to your products and services. Remember at the end of the day people from people.

This is where I start my TCC journey, by being your gateway to quality cricket bats, expert bat makers and the knowledge, advice and guidance we can provide to help you on your batting journey.

The TCC experience is a personal one. I want to be part of your journey, just as my friends and team mates over the years have helped influence my cricketing journey.

Please read on in the About TCC and please also check out The Cally Collection and the more of the story since early 2022.
